The Public Technology Institute (PTI) has designated the City of Kansas City, Mo., as one of the top 13 citizen-engaged communities for 2013-2015. The designation recognizes excellence in application of technology, strategic processes, multi-channel communications and performance management in promoting citizen participation and responsive government. This is the second consecutive time Kansas City, Mo., has received this designation. (From City of KC Press Release 9/26/13)
So I wanted to test this myself. We were discussing how our water usage has declined but the bill continues to rise. So I tweeted the city and actually received a response.
I am an advocate for multi-modal communication between citizens and their government, and I’m glad KC actually responds.
Now we’ll see what happens with the suggested followup email correspondence.
